The interns arrived this past weekend. Kinda fun to see all the different people from all over the world coming in! They are all so excited, but you can tell that some of them are intimidated as well! We have 43 interns this semester.
Sunday was my birthday! Yay! And I was legal for the 2nd time in my life since I turned 21. It was different being away from home and friends, but it was really great all the same. I got some real nice gifts, and lotsa cards from everyone! One of my workers, Josh, gave me the sweetest card. He made it himself! Definitely a card I'll be keeping in my memory box. And one of my other workers, Ayahna, gave me a little teddy bear and come lotions and body wash. So sweet. I didn't expect anything from them! My friend Emily and I went to Stomp, the broadway show. It was awesome! It was all beats and music made with everyday things like garbage cans and lids, plastic tubes, sinks, broom sticks, newspapers, lighters. It was so entertaining and funny. We later went to the Hard Rock Cafe afterwards for dinner. Yesterday night (Monday), my division and I went out to BBQ's and they treated me to dinner. And they gave me some real nice gifts too. I had a lot of fun! And I don't think I've ever felt so special before at my birthday!
I'm so excited for this semester to start. I'm looking forward to doing some Yogi Bear and seeing my kids excited about us being back. I really want to see my workers grow in God this semester. I know for sure that Josh, Raheem, and Ayahna have given their lives to Christ. Antoinette I'm not sure of....haven't actually spent much time with her lately since she has after school so late that I don't get a chance to see her! So often I look at the masses of kids and want so much for them to know God. But I've been reminded that I need to make realistic goals. It's not bad to dream big. But it's when the dream is so big that it's not attainable in a short period of time that it becomes a discouragement and frustration rather than something that can actually be attained. I pray that my workers will become so passionate for Christ and desire to see their families, their friends, and their projects changed for Him.
Before I forget, thanks to all of you for the cards you've sent and for the gifts that some of you sent as well! Love you all......so much!
