God chose you

Today was my first day of work. It's also the beginning of our staff retreat, which I'm really looking forward to. We have Pastor Bill speaking and two guest speakers as well. It starts tonight and runs all day tomorrow. It'll be a good time! Lots of learning to do and it will get all the staff and interns pumped up for the semester! I'm so pumped already, could I possibly get anymore pumped?
I found out this morning that my friend Brian is engaged! I'm so happy for him. He's one of those guys who is so after God's heart - so on fire! And he's such a genuine guy too. His fiancée is one lucky lady!
I'm reading through 1 Corinthians right now and came across a great passage the other night. It's such an encouragement to me and I know for so many people. It talks about how God uses us for his work, even if we aren't trained, or unskilled, or weak, or poor, and on and on. The power of God through us has no bounds! For me, I often feel inadequate - especially where the kingdom is involved. I mean, why would God want me - some untrained, dough-head kid, who's trying desperately to be an adult - to do his work? But, He did call me. And everyday I find myself asking God for the strength, direction, wisdom for that day. I honestly can't do it without my God being my source. So, here's the passage:

But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. He chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things - and the things that are not - to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before him.
~ 1 Corinthians 1:27-29 ~

It is such an honor to be a part of God's work - His vision for the people, the nations. We are inadequate, but because of Christ, we are perfect for God's work. Be willing to let Him use you. Trust me, life is a lot more exciting when you do.

God chose me. He's also chosen you. Are you willing?
