It feels like tons of stuff has happened since I last posted. Let's see. Last week was stockings week. We gave all the kids Christmas stockings! Lots of kids showed up for that. It's so incredible, because people from all around the world make the stockings and then stuff them with toys and candy. It's amazing to think about how much the kids love them. And what a difference one person can make whether they only send one stocking or 20 stockings. Just that little bit of God's love makes such a difference!
Last Saturday was our first day of 6 sessions of Sunday School. I was up at 6:30am and didn't stop till 10:00pm. A long day! But it was a lot of fun. We had over 6000 kids go through for Sunday School. The last session, I rode my bus and picked up about 100 kids! On one bus! There was a mother who decided to come with her kids...unfortunately...she wasn't too impressed. You could maybe say that this type of work is for only certain, very tolerant people!
Sunday I went to visit my kids for this week. I was with 2 of my girls Antoinette and Ayahna and we got to one of the floors of the building, and as soon as we opened the door to the floor, all we could hear was screaming and yelling and a whole bunch of crashing. It was the most awful sound and the 3 of us stood frozen. I honestly didn't know what to do. As far as I know the kids are ok, but who really knows what went on behind the closed door. It breaks my heart to know that there is so much hell to there lives than I can actually see. They come laughing and smiling to Yogi Bear and whenever I see them, yet it's the pain behind the smile that nobody knows about.
This week we're giving away Christmas presents! Tons of kids come out for them. I was really worried about how I was gonna fit my kids on the sidewalk for this week. We were pretty crammed last week for stockings, and guaranteed even more kids will show for gifts. But, thank God, I was finally able to speak with the pastor of a church right by the projects, who said we could use the parking lot at his church! I've been praying that I will get a hold of him, and finally I did! Courtney used to use the parking lot for Yogi Bear in the past, so they were very welcoming.
Time to catch some sleep...some long days ahead of me, and then rest....can't wait to come home and visit!
